Martien Broekhuijsen (1955) is the founder and owner of Marble ChemBio Consulting B.V.. He studied Molecular Sciences at Wageningen University. His two year master study consisted equally of Organic Chemistry and Molecular Biology.

He started his career in 1982 at the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) and worked for 10 years at genetic modification of bacteria and fungi. Since the early 1990s he worked in CBRNE Defence and Security of TNO.

During his career at TNO he did a one year marketing study at the Dutch marketing institute NIMA and received the marketing diploma NIMA-A. Besides research and project management, he took on responsibilities for marketing and acquisition. During several years he was a parttime business developer at TNO.

Martien Broekhuijsen is a biosafety officer authorised by the Dutch government and has been appointed biosafety officer at TNO for many years. He has set up the biosafety organisation at TNO from the start and was also responsible for setting up and maintaining the culture collection of dangerous pathogens.

In 2010 he left TNO and started his own company: Marble ChemBio Consulting B.V.
